veins

I have had blood clots in my leg. The doctor tells me the clots are now disolving . I have scars in the veins where the clots where and the blood can not get back to the lungs, my legs swells up and patches of blood show through the skin. I am on Coumadim,Hydrochlorothiazide and wear elastic stocking. In the same leg 20 years ago I had veins stripped and after the operation I recovered quickly and the veins grew back again. Now however the veins seem to be having trouble reroutting or growing back.Do I need to have them stripped out to force the leg to reroute the blood?
