A traumatic wound is one that results from an unintentional injury or accident. Traumatic wounds are acute wounds; as opposed to diabetic foot ulcers and venous leg ulcers, which are chronic wounds.A number of wounds are considered traumatic wounds, including lacerations, cuts, scrapes and skin tears associated with an accident or trauma to the body, as opposed to surgery or a chronic wound.
