Clinical Overview
A traumatic wound is one that results from an unintentional injury or accident. Traumatic wounds are acute wounds; as opposed to diabetic foot ulcers and venous leg ulcers, which are chronic wounds.

A number of wounds are considered traumatic wounds, including lacerations, cuts, scrapes and skin tears associated with an accident or trauma to the body, as opposed to surgery or a chronic wound.
