Overview
Co-polymer starches are gel or paste-like dressings that clinicians use to fill a wound cavity.
Detailed Description
Clinicians choose co-polymer starches for filling deep cavity wounds such as late-stage pressure ulcers and venous leg ulcers. Co-polymer starches conform easily into the wound space, and offer an alternative to gauze packing. Clinicians determine the type of packing that will best suit a wound, based on the amount of exudate, or fluid that is present in the wound bed. Co-polymer starches are capable of handling moderate to heavy amounts of drainage from wounds. Co-polymer starches absorb wound exudate and create an environment that promotes moist wound healing.
Clinicians apply co-polymer starches directly into a deep-cavity wound in a hospital, care-facility, or nursing home.
